Dark*Matter also seems like a decent setting for Spycraft - the PDF of the Alternity setting book sells for just under five bucks.

Mind telling me where this is available?  I've been searching for a pdf of the original Dark Matter for awhile now.

Wizards pulled the PDFs from OneBookshelf a few months back.  Cry

Looks like that one is OOP as well. I managed to pick up all the original DarkMatter stuff in a sale back in the day - really lucked out. Didn't bother with the d20 Modern version, since, well, d20 modern is not Spycraft Tongue. Anyone here have it, is it any good?

It's alright, but really not all that different from the Alternity setting book. It's updated by a few years. I think it's a bit smaller; they probably left something out, but I'd have to survey it to find out.

Anywhoosier, I ran my first Fantasy Craft Freeport game today. It went well.

So far we have:

Human Agile Fencer Assassin (->Swashbuckler)
Human Unpredictable Adventurer Explorer (specialing in chance feats)
Elf Acrobat Priest (of Water deity, Healing path)
Elf Bard Courtier

It was generally well received. I feel bad about one thing... I neglected to warn the Courtier player about the iconic class thing. I'm thinking of making a feat to alleviate her pain.

Yes, well, I got it for 5 € a month or so back - had to pick it up at that price! Smiley

You did notice there are Chocobos, did you?  Wink

Hell yes, there are chocobos! They are right in the normal mount list. I did everything but say they were yellow Roll Eyes.
Hmmm, to crossover with Spycraft?

Yeah, that was my reaction too. Then I thought 'Why not share?' and this thread jumped immediately to mind....  Grin

The entire thought process took maybe a 12th of a second. Tongue

The Auld Grump, still laughing about it, too....

Time for a bit of thread necromancy:

You cannot mix Conan the Barbarian and Cthulu.  That mixture is already canon.

Hey, I remember this thread.

Some stuff that I'm pondering at the moment:  Dues Ex and ThunderCats.  Not at the same time of course...

Apologies but I keep seeing MC as good for running anything:

1) Sword and Sorcery Fantasy eg Conan.
2) Post Apoc Fantasy eg Gamma World/Planet of the Apes.
2) Sword and Planet fantasy eg John Carter of Mars
3) Pulp Horror eg Indiana Jones/Mummy
4) Espionage eg James Bond
5) Conspiracy Horror eg X-Files/Delta Green/Ultraviolet
6) Space opera eg Traveller/Serenity
7) Superhero stuff eg Mutants + Masterminds

I've had a dabble (with the asssistance of others) and posted results to the wiki if you're looking for settings. Smiley

7) Superhero stuff eg Mutants + Masterminds

This is the only one I'm not sure about (at least not to the level of Mutants and Masterminds).  Mastercraft does low powered supers extremely well (low powered in so far as innate superhuman abilities), but I simply can't see a way to do higher powered stuff well with it.

I've run Spycraft Supers (I put my first draft of the powers on the forums), but the baseline power level is nowhere near what I would run with M&M, and some powers just break the system (super speed is a very real problem) because of how several systems run.

I think it's possible if you write an entire book that simply uses the engine, but as something to bolt onto the rest of the range I just can't see it working beyond low tier stuff.  Problem is then, we're back to an M&M type game (in that it's based on d20, but you can't tack it on to a D&D game), rather then a Mastercraft extension.
