It's slightly more complex than that. We also cut a couple things to gain some space - two settings and the mass combat dram-con, all of which will appear in PDF. In the latter-most case, this will be a major boon as it sets us up for a new PDF series that's gonna rock the house. Smiley

No more Mass Combat Dram-con?  Man that blows.  Is naval combat dramatic staying? Was it ever in in the first place?  Will we likey see the Mass combat conflict soon after the book? Or are we talking several months after?  Oddly enough, this little item was one of the things I was most looking forward to.  Ah well, cest la vie.

I worked on it for a whille and the chief problem is it was getting too long to be in the book with or without the stand alone concept. This arrangement is actually going to give it the space it needs to receive a better treatment.

It was never definfite. My desire to incorporate it was one of the several reasons the text started bloating out of control.

*looks at text sitting on harddrive* I'm gonna need a little time with a whip and a chair to tame the beast, but it's not like I want that work going to waste Smiley. This also means wit can make sure the tool can get the most out of both a Mastercraft level of complexity and a full Spycraft 2.0 treatment.

It's not that odd Wink. The reason it was proposed at all is because I know it would be really, really cool Smiley. As Pat mentioned, we've got a few thoughts on making Dramatic Conflicts more useable in the course of play, so this will only help the Mass Battle concept come out in a way that makes it an exciting tool you look forward to from both sides of the game screen.

Divorcing Mass Combat from the FantasyCraft rules is a good thing - while I am planning to get most, if not all, of the core MasterCraft games having things like the Mass Combat and the Empire system as stand alone products can make a huge difference, if for no other reason than it separates the concepts from the initial genre. (As an example, I might use both the Mass Combat and Empire systems for a realm level fantasy RPG along the lines of the old TSR Birthright setting.

Come to think of it, a political intrigue Dramatic Conflict might also be fun....

The Auld Grump, who read Machiavelli's The Prince, and got the jokes.... (Yes, there were some - many of the examples he used in the book had already come to bad ends by the time he wrote it - sort of like using Nixon as an example would be....)

This has been my goal ever since they announced Fantasy Craft, so I would love for those concepts to be divorced from their specific settings.  They should get more love and be more useful in the long run.

Mild reshaping, sure, but chances are anyone buying Fantasy Craft to expand Spycraft already wants to tinker. That person's gonna change the rules to suit his particular taste anyway.

Quite possibly the biggest thing I want out of Fantasy Craft is the ability to bring magic into a modern setting game.

Just wishful thinking at this point.... I certainly would not expect it until 10KB is much closer to completion.

Another question, won't Spycraft Henchman Edition be released?

With what would have become Henchman folding into all our future books there isn't really a need for a separate release. If there's enough demand, or if the stars line up just right, we may eventually release a Mastercraft espionage book or a standalone Mastercraft PDF. There's very little chance at this point of an independent Mastercraft print product, however.

No mastercraft espionage? Lame

Mastercraft Espionage is basically Spycraft 2.0 and even further WoF....

Although I did just notice that Scotty skipped over the idea of Spellbound by the end of this month.... how about by the time July ends?

Actually after my post I got to thinking how divorcing it from fantasy craft would actually  be of great benefit to me [and I suppose my players], as I could use them for both pre and post industrial warfare, plus it will be bigger.  So I guess as long as there isn't a huge wait, and judging from the fact that the text is on a hard drive there won't be, I'm still happy.

Oh and yeah, I hope DesertPuma is right, lots of spellbound would make me the happest guy here, I'd had my shadowrun campaign simmerring until I get more variety for my spell slingers, and I'd love to get it kickin'.  [Yeah I know 10kB will help that kinda setting, but I can't wait that long].
