The trackball's dead end tech, let it lie.

But... Marble Madness...  Cry

I've been trying for years to buy a track ball - for lap tops, tey beat mice to bloody death.

One thing that always keeps me from playing at an FLGS is the closing time. I would absolutely never  pay for a table... except if it were a great space AND the store had a later closing time. I just hate getting to a store, waiting for the 1-2 late people (always happens), getting going, and then realizing they close in 2 hours. No thanks.

I could see a program being offered by which you can rent the table with a late closing time (usually an hour later is all that is needed) on certain day(s). This could be made into a package: some table fee, and pizza via the very good idea posted here where there is a discount and the store gets a take. The store could even limit this to one or two nights, and all others leave the store. Basically, you cater to a few ultra-loyal groups that want to play on x night, and you can do things like inventory during that time. I could see a "buy anything today and you don't have to pay for the table reservation" policy.

I also like stores like Engame in Oakland that have a board game night and an RPGA night every so often and stay late for that. It's a great way to build community, and random people like me do show up (I was there on work, walked around the hotel and saw the store... "do you guys run games?" "Yeah, tonight". Rock on!).

I like membership ideas. I mean, let's face it, I pay full value at a FLGS because I am emotionally attached to the concept. But, it would be nice not to pay full book value when Amazon and online stores are so incredibly cheap (50% off on the three 4E books!).

I like the idea of fee waivers if people buy a certain amount of store product.  Where we used to play WH40K there was a 2 or 3 dollar per person table fee, but if you bought something from the store, that fee was waived for the day.  I forget what the dollar amount was to qualify for the waiver but I almost always bought something when I went there, like a box of 'nids, an RPG supplement, painting supplies, or a board/card game.  I always figured, so long as I was going to be spending the money I may as well get something to take home after game. Elevator Action

My favorite game of all time, despite never being that skilled at its play.
