Does anyone know if the D&D Minis come with cards listing the stat block of the creature? I think there'd be a market for those.

Yes they do, they have D&D miniatures rules on one side & D&D4E rules on the other. Except the ones in the starter set which have tactical notes instead.
I don't think they are all full rules, but enough to get by in an encounter.

Quote
The D&D mechanics never particularly supported role-playing

Personally, I've never been fond of the idea of roleplaying being in the domain of the mechanics of the rulebook. That's there to determine how my character interacts with the world. Roleplaying, my character's personality, should all come from me, and not the rulebook.

I was in at my FLGS today and learned one surprising fact about 4.0...

It costs more to purchase the books as a three-piece boxed set than it does to purchase them separately.

Not if you shop Amazon. I got my (still in the mail) box set for 45% off cover. Grin

When it comes to Amazon, I have to agree with today's Dork Tower Tongue

EDIT: I feel I should note, those without a FLGS shouldn't feel the slightest bit of remorse about Amazon. That's pretty much the Amazon business model, and that includes the poor sobs among us whose LGS is not very friendly and doesn't deserve your business. Undecided

It's not. I would argue, however, that mechanics necessarily affect role-playing (even if only a little bit, or indirectly, or whatever helps you feel better about my thesis Wink).

Tempting, but I'll only buy the books if I end up playing in the campaign one of my work mates wants to run. And even then I'll probably only get the PHB. Maybe.

Also, I think the cost of shipping might off-set any cover-price discounts if I ordered from Amazon Wink

"But don't you have amazon.co.uk," he asked innocently. Tongue
