We all have them, right? Those movies that you *loved* but everyone else bagged on for aaaages. Your friends still doubt your taste even now if you decided to go and buy them so i'm challenging you all to admit it: which films do you love, but everyone else hated?

Here's some of mine.

Independance Day
Soldier
Battlefield Earth (!)
Crash and Burn
Robot Jocks
Mission to Mars
Krull
Howard the Duck
Battle Beyond the Stars
Masters of the Universe (no, really)
Remo Williams (slate this movie and i'll hunt you down)
Judge Dredd

So, have at it!

I didn't realise everyone hated those films...
I actually really liked the new (but not this year) Incredible Hulk
Mirromask (no-one's actually told me they hated it, but it seemed to have no presence anywhere - we had to go to a bit of an Artsy cinema to watch it)

Can't think of anymore at the mo, but I'm sure there's lots.

Oooh, good idea

Howard the Duck
Remo Williams (slate this movie and i'll hunt you down)
Those I both loved Smiley

I'll add....

The Return of Captain Invincible (Christopher Lee Sings!)
The Fountain

I'm sure there are several more, I'll probably edit this list later once I've scanned over by dvd collection.

Let's see...

Howard the Duck.  (Good call Glimmer)
Ghostbusters II.  (I love all Ghostbusters)
Undercover Brother.
Cloverfield.
Demolition Man.
Flight of the Navigator.  (Compliance!)
The Adventures of Pluto Nash (Seriously, it wasn't that bad...)

  • Strange Days, which critics found boring, message-y, and obvious, but which I found innovative, cool, and deeply ironic in a very good way.
  • Monkeybone, which--seriously--looks like nothing else and possesses physical comedy bits that rival Buster Keaton's.

Fifth Element seems to be the one that gets all the smack-talk that I love.

I'm not sure which movies to add yet, but i'm very surprised to find Remo Williams on the original list. I've never met any fan who's heard of it who didn't like it. That's more on the great movies no one's heard of list, then the 'movies sane people hate list'. I've got to admit to hating every other movie on that list. (except maybe, with a title change..Howard *A* Duck...It wasn't Howard THE Duck, but was cute in it's own right.)

Remo!
I even watched the 2-hour movie that was supposed to be a back-door pilot for a television series.

Movies I Liked:
Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions (I still think that Revolutions is a superior film to the first one. Once you get passed the schoolboy crush of the first one, the others are truely better).
Star Wars Episode I-III. (I think Attack of the Clones is the best of the series).
The Fifth Element (the best Sci-Fi movie ever)
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (not as good as Kahn, but the second best of all the movies)
Mission: Impossible I & II

What does god need with a starship?

Oh!  And one to add to the list.  The Postman.  I actually liked it.

God? Which movie... "The Fifth Element" or "Star Trek: The Motion Picture"?

"Ice Pirates" is gold.

Oh, another movie that gets little love or attention: "PCU" with Jeremy Piven, Jon Favreau (in one of his first movies) and co-written by Zak Penn.

From the previous lists above:

Soldier
Remo
Judge Dredd (it really isn't that bad but Armand Assante steals the show just be being emotional next to Stallone)
Undercover Brother (had a LSpy player duplicate the character ... Charisma based Martial Artist)
Demolition Man
Strange Days (gotta love the Cyberpunk elements of it ... Shatterpunk, baby)
Fifth Element
Ice Pirates (kooky and fun)
PCU (just for Jeremy Piven alone)

Other ones:

Nemesis
Punisher (both versions)
Showdown In Little Tokyo (right up until the escape from the car compacter it works)
Rapid Fire (Brandon Lee's last film prior to The Crow)
Extreme Prejudice
