No complaint here, just a curiosity.   I have dead tree versions of both 1st and 2nd printing.  But my 2nd printing is thicker then the 1st.  As far as I can tell all the pages numbers are the same, index ends at 475.   But the 2nd printing is almost a 1/2 inch thicker.

Is this just do to printing methods?   Paper doesn't seem any thicker then the 1st.

Again, just a curiousity.

It was a combination of paper stock, printing methods, and spine size. The spine had to go up to accomodate greater durability on the book. I haven't directly seen the new printing of SP, but I understand that durability's going to be signficantly higher Smiley

I have (well, I've seen the blank galley - not the fully printed one), and its durability is substantially improved. The new printing will be handled with traditional methods and has a variety of perks, not the least of which is that it lays flat open to any page. Smiley

We'll have more information about this and World on Fire very soon - in fact, I'd watch the site's front page about it as early as next week.

I am very interested as to when the new printings are released, as I have two replacements for busted copies lined up at Mongoose, one for myself and one for one of my players.  Both our books' spines broke in the exact same spot in the table of contents.

When the new books come out, definitely drop a line to Mongoose and let them know. They'll hook you up with fresh copies.

Between pages 2 and 3?

I'm thinking about hunting down a real print shop/bindery and having mine either rebound or getting the spine sliced off and the pages drilled for a binder.

Didn't even make a noise, did it?  You just kinda looked down and said, "... $#@&."  Tongue

I'm planning on the same thing.  I just want to have a replacement first.

I actually had some warning as I noticed it separating at the bottom. But pretty much, yeah.
Out of curiosity, is the character sheet in WoF coming out for anyone else?

And yes Pat, I already got in touch with Mongoose. Sent them photos and everything. Smiley

My copy of the main rules has now split in two different places - the first in the Gear section, with an audible tearing noise, the second near the table of contents, silently.

Interestly enough, the spine has detached from the cover of my 2.0 1st printing and is only being held in place by the front and back black pages.

Mine managed to hold up pretty well, three months before some pages started to become loose. And just last week they detached completely. The melee feats section ... probably because I'm using the Nine Tigers quie a bit in my WOF game.

But mongoose said they'll happily send me a knew one when they're ready, the new binding sounds pretty good. They didn't want photos or anything, I think the'yre just accepting now that they're own printing couldn't cope with the scale of SP. My WOF book is still perfectly solid.

This was exactly the case. Spycraft 2.0 was simply too large for their press to handle while World on Fire seemed to work perfectly fine. Sadly, our last wave of initial 2.0 galleys appeared to work but as we're finding now many copies aren't holding over the long haul. Rest assured we've taken steps to make sure this doesn't happen again.

how will we know when the news ones are out. I need five. Yes I said four.

Both my copies (one is a replacement for the other so that's only one.)
Three of my players have all bought books, all of which have lost their spines. It seems pretty univeral here. Nobody's bought one yet that did NOT fall apart withint two weeks of purchase.

We'll be keeping you abreast as best we can here on our site but once the books are in the pipe - again, watch the site as early as next week - you can fairly reliable trust what's up on the Mongoose site. At that point there'll be very few ways their information could be wrong. Smiley

Any idea of timeframe here? Some folks I sampled the game for last year have been very interested in the game, but have had trouble getting to books. Is there a good chance they'll be available again by GenCon?
