Damn ... I remember her not only as Catwoman but also as an infrequent cat burgler employed by Jim Phelps during the M:I run.

Damn - the woman had a fine voice. I linked to a Youtube video of her song I Wanna Be Evil a whiles back - done long before she played Catwoman it leaves no doubts as to why they might choose her for the role.

She was the best actress to play Catwoman, bar none.

I think I will go and listen to Santa Baby now. Sad

There goes another one...

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Singer-songwriter -producer Delaney Bramlett, who penned such classic rock songs as "Let it Rain" and worked with musicians George Harrison and Eric Clapton, has died. He was 69.
Bramlett died Saturday shortly before 5 a.m. at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Los Angeles as a result of complications from gallbladder surgery, his wife Susan Lanier-Bramlett said.
Born in Mississippi, Bramlett enjoyed a career in the music business that spanned 50 years. With his then-wife Bonnie Lynn, he created the Southern blues-rock band Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. The group opened for Blind Faith, which featured British guitarist Clapton, in 1969.
He is perhaps best known for standards such as "Superstar," co-written with Leon Russell, which was recorded by Usher, Luther Vandross, Bette Midler, The Carpenters and most recently, Sonic Youth, in a version featured on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack of the movie "Juno."
He co-wrote "Let it Rain" with Clapton, who also recorded it, and "Never Ending Song of Love," which was recorded by more than 100 artists including Ray Charles, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Patty Loveless and Dwight Yoakam.
During his career, he performed, co-wrote or recorded with stars such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, John Lennon, Dave Mason, Billy Preston, the Everly Brothers and Mac Davis. He also produced artists including Etta James and Elvin Bishop.
He recently released an album, "A New Kind of Blues," on independent label Magnolia Gold Records.

Another one from 2008. Sad

Ronnie Drew, sometime lead singer for the Dubliners died back in August. If there was anyone in the Dubliners that made them sound like a bunch of drunken Dubliners singing, and singing well, it was Ronnie Drew. The Mero has been on my MP3 players for a long time, and is quintessentially about Dublin. The Dubliners formed a musical background for a Changeling: the Dreaming game that I ran for two years.

I just found out that Wm. John Wheeler died in January 2008. John Wheeler used to be with The Companions, a small games publisher in Bath, Maine. He bought the first adventure gaming material I ever wrote, back in 1981.

I can't believe that it took me this long to find out that he had died. I only found out because I was looking to see if any of that old material was available on E-Bay or elsewhere. John was one of the best GMs that I have ever gamed with.

Since we're at this:

Captain Pentti Iisalo, Knight of the Mannerheim Cross.
He received his Cross from his actions on October 1st 1941. He was 16th (of 191) to receive the Cross.

Translated from the citation:
"On August 17th 1941 2nd Lieutenant Pentti Iisalo captured alone an enemy anti-tank cannon, turned it around and studied the previously unknown weapon. He managed to start firing the cannon just as an enemy column started to cross the bridge. He fired around 40 rounds into the column causing an impassable traffic jam on the bridge. The actions of 2nd Ltn. Iisalo delayed the enemy until the rest of his battalion reached the bridge."

During the action he destroyed several tanks (including Klim Voroshilovs and Josif Stalins), several anti-tank and artillery pieces. Also were captured one member of the gun crew, a female nurse and a female commissar. The commissar was relieved of her brand new pistol which Iisalo carried until his wounding. The action lasted for around 3 hours, and cost the platoon one man who was killed while capturing the gun.
