I read this month's Signs & Portents, and I've got to say, The Chasm Group is a really cool setting. A bit of Sliders, a bit of Stargate, obvious places to throw in World on Fire and some good old Cold War intrigue.

One thing that threw me, though, was the part about the explorers lost on Parallel 9, which feels almost like a plot-hole, but I suspect it was probably deliberately included to baffle the characters.

All in all, I like it.

Especially the Quartermaster.

I just finished reading the Chasm Group part of S&P, and I like it.

Likewise. I'll have to run a campaign with it someday.

Good to see that that is up Smiley.

With parallel 9, you'd have to ask yourself, "What would case that to happen...?" Cool

Very nice, very nice indeed. And the Quartermaster is quite cool as well.

That's kind of what I figured. It's a much bigger plot hook for that parallel than the "ooh, we could try to weaponize the stuff" angle. Although, now that I think about it...

Ok, now I've basically concluded that if there's a grail-macguffin in the setting, it's totally on Parallel 9.

The Mortal Kombat stylings of Parallel 11 have me wanting to stir some Spellbound volumes in with the Chop Sockey genre. Hmmm...

Oh, look, Quartermaster. Another "triple advanced skill mastery" ability.

Is that sarcastic? 'Cause, really, Sleight of Hand is a combat skill, and Streetwise and Bureaucracy do good things for this character who's succeeding on every Request Check. And that Grand Skill Mastery feat is 3 levels early, while the Perfect feat is 5 levels early (as is the case of all of these).

Yeah, it ain't sexy and we've seen it before, but it works well here for what is, essentially, an unsexy expert class in the first place (who walks up to the gaming table thinking I want to play the shopkeeper! Awesome!?).

I would've decreased the Def column by 1 and given it full BAB. At least that would've made it a bit more attractive for the oddball soldier.

Not in the least bit. Would it have helped if I said "oooh, shiny!"  Grin

Like hell.  Cool

One if the reasons I dig SC2.0 is it leverages skills in the game.

I like the Quartermaster, makes an excellent alternative to the more campaign specific Inventor (i.e. only works in games with long missions or available downtime) as a gear guy.

I, too, think this is a great option.  In fact, I am now wondering how long it will be before it is an allowed class in Living Spycraft so I can start taking levels in it.

Really happy I took the time to download and read the Spycraft portions of the most curren S&P. Chasms is a great idea for a multiverse setting that allows the kitchen sink. The Spycraft crunch included just make everything sweeter. The Quartermaster and full Martial Artist were well worth the wait.

That right there is what's been bugging me about it.  You are essentially the company clerk.  You are the most effective company clerk on the planet, but it's the only thing the class excels at.  Every table in LSpy is going to want one, but the problem is someone has to play them.

Speaking of the Quartermaster, I'm confused as to the effects of Fully Stocked.  Do you get the extra possessions pics, or does it just raise your score?

Sounds like the Pointman...

That said, back when we would play Traveller, it seems like plenty of players were happy to be the wrench bending engineer or sweet talking merchant. Not everyone out there plays to play the bad ass.

The Pointman is the best of both worlds.  Not only do you get to be everyone's best friend, but there is a variety of roles that it can be built to hold its own in.

Meanwhile, the Quartermaster absolutely pwns face... in the intel phase.  In the field, its specialty is Bureaucracy and Streetwise, two skills that easily fall to the wayside among the munchkin.  There's a feint monster in there, but for the life of me I can't make out where that road leads.  On first read, it screams "NPC Class" to me.  You know, if we actually had those things.
