I actually had someone veto a character because "A Faceman doesn't have Sneak, therefore you're not supposed to have Ghost Mastery, its not what the designers intended."

That little cracking noise you just heard?  It was my brain.  Not what the designers intended?!  They may not have had that particular build in mind, but I don't think they specifically thought of a Gifted/Pickpocket Soldier taking Stealth, but that's the joy of the system.

But if you want to rub that GC's nose in it, we can ask Pat if Facemen having Ghost Mastery is something the designers intended.

Nope. That one definitely occured to me Grin.

Then again, one of the few times I've gotten to play I have great fun with my Wheelman/Ninja.

The Gifted feat is pretty much a hammer we hand out specifically to break up some of the more tired molds Wink.

And here I thought my players were the only ones that try to play "Guess what they were thinking."  *tries to think of one of the more amusing times* Oh!  Ohhhh!  Now I remember.  Had an Advocate who wanted to take Guided & Indirect weapon feats.  The soldier and Infiltrator actually got into an argument for 20 minutes about "that wasn't the role of the Advocate, so it'd be a waste."  ...yeah.. fun times.

Think of your favorite build - the one that depicts the character you most want to play. Guess what?

That's what we intended.  Wink

Personally, I found the concept hilarious.  A politician firing mortars and laser guiding JDAMs onto target.

I love it - especially when I imagine it as a stereotypical southern politician - "Lemme show ya'll how we do it in Alabama" [Not a knock on southern folk, more on how they're portrayed in movies].

I know what you mean, when I realised he was serious I thought I was going to have a mild stroke.  Its like he didn't realise that the Reason stuff like Gifted and Talented exist is to take a class outside the box.  That plus I hate people tryign to second guess intent.

The most broken class concept I have seen, and it was in LSpy, was the Brainy Student Snoop 2/Scientist 2/Schemer 7. This was before the current incarnation of the core ability for Schemer when the minimum you could get on an AD was your Int mod. The character had a 22 or 23 Int and every skill in the book. He was great to have on your team but he could be rough to run as a GC because he always created an edge for himself. The player, however, enjoyed helping his team and would bow out of the way to someone who had a skill more superior than he did so he could assist them or split the workload.

Desertpuma, that sounds suprisingly like a character concept I had when 2.0 first came out. Right down to the same Origin and first 11 levels. I built the character as a 20th level version for the 20th level builds thread over on the old board...

We (Southerners) are like that. However, "Deliverance" is not a documentary.

So, speaking of LSPY characters, is there somewhere where they are all listed out? I'm kinda curious to see what all kinds of crazy characters UNITAS ended up with.  The stories I hear so far make me chuckle.

Although the guy I met with the attack monkey that gave people stress damage just by looking at it was one of my favorite interesting builds.  That and his meat tenderizer of silence...

They used to have a nice listing on the lspy site. You can grab the first page through archive.org. But the later pages are asp-driven so they don't exist in archive.org. Sad

I was picking through them for character ideas and quick fellow agent NPCs a while back.

I know the owner of that gadget as I introduced him to LSpy. His good name was Chef and he was a Scientist (with a Ph.D in Science)/Intruder/Snoop mix who got Animal Partner as a feat and built his pet monkey with a chef's hat when he hit 12th level. His character was actually Small size complete with the wounds and vitality loss. The monkey had Fearsome as a NPC Quality on it.

Unfortunately the complete list was removed the net when the LSpy site became the Wyrmstone site. There were 25 players here in Arizona on the site too.

I had a 16th level agent (who was 2,000 xp from 17th) out there. He was a 10th Intruder/3rd Soldier/3rd Martial Artist with a Blend score of +23 and a Security Skill Mastered score of +19. Along with Chef, there were about 5 or 6 other agents at 12th level here in Arizona with codenames like Preacher, Mirage and De Kraut. We even had two guys who stayed in one class all the way to 12th: a Scout and a Snoop. Mirage had a +27 Impress check to go with his Charisma of 23 at 12th level.

Maybe we can convince someone to post the list of all the LSpy characters somewhere.

We could just make a new thread and if people have them, they can just put them up.  *shrugs* I can dig out my old character sheets.
