Interesting point, but I think it actually combines to create a more claustrophobic effect. I like the implication of the 2nd cover that there's something beyond what you immediately see.

See, to me the second cover looks more claustrophobic because its extreamly close up on the characters, there's no room to breathe...

As an aside, it looks like 4ed's core books have been leaked into the wild.  Check your piracy engine of choice.  Just saying.

My apologies, I lost track of this thread in the flurry of the last few weeks.

As promised, I've uploaded the original Spycraft 2.0 cover image (with the full background) in the gallery.

Enjoy!

Ahh, that's a much better version. It's a shame they had to take out the background, it really does complete the picture.

Odd. It works for me, and it clearly worked for Wolvie. Try this.

They are two covers targeted to two different markets.  I'm curious as to which one will draw more attention in my aisle.2  Wink

2Also, how many strange looks I'm going to get when I explain that to play the cool cover, you're going to need to also buy the cover with the two contemporary action heroes on it.

Not anymore! Check this out.  Grin

::chuckle:: Only slightly - in that you were one of many who built an argument for it (albeit in your case indrectly). We actually came at this quite organically. Once Alex, Scott, and I were deep into Fantasy Craft, it just started to made sense. Mastercraft lets us focus on what's important for each product without worrying (too much) about previous ones. It lets us bring you the cleanest, most precisely sculpted set of rules possible for every genre and setting. Best of all, it'll almost certainly sell better, which will help us continue doing this for years to come. Smiley

Plus, once people learn the system for their favorite version, it dramatically lowers the learning curve for the other lines. Especially with Fantasycraft, since last I heard, fantasy rpgs get more play and sales than either sci-fi or modern.
