I agree with Tracker7 about the comics, though unfortunately the Knauf's are taking a short 4 issue break starting next month.

I am going to make the claim (just try and stop me!) that Iron Man is the BEST science fiction film of this decade, beating out even Serenity. And if anyone tries to tell me its not Sci-Fi, they really need to get a dictionary.

And for those who've seen the film...

You're right, I'd forgotten that.  From the solicits, it looks like Stuart Moore's going to keep the vibe going.

My favorite line in the entire movie, has been seen in the previews and trailers, but we're sure that wasn't really Tony saying, it just happened to work for both. Cheesy  "Face it, this isn't the worst thing you've ever seen me doing."

Watched the AM matinée today.

Between this board and Circvs Maximvs, it was sounding like the BEST SUPERS FLICK EVAR.

IMO, though not bad, I think it weighs in at #4-5 (depending on whether or not you count The Incredibles).

Just wondering, what are your top 4 if Iron Man is all the way down at #5?

That was AWESOME!!!

Ahem... It was a very good movie. Great effects, RDJ was great, and a lot of hints about the sequel and the post credits was awesome.

Iron man hits my top list as well. Of straight DC/Marvel supers comics adaptions it's way up there..possibly #1, though I want to give it time and disatance before I say that for sure.

Unlike X-men/spiderman etc..I didn't walk away with many complaints at all. I didn't think Rhodey was strong, (always having preferred him to Stark) but other than that..it was great. Only one serious continuity error that I noticed. (internal contuity, not comics continuity..there were plenty of those but unlike normal, i have no complaints about them.)

Growing up in the 70's, Iron Man was my second favorite comic. Flash was my favorite for years, later replaced by Teen Titans. It's also worth mentioning that Iron Man was one of the only Marvel comics I really liked. That and Ghost rider, and we will not discuss movie adaptions of that particular hero. Smiley

So yeah..I'm pleased, and I really didn't expect to be.

From Comingsoon.net (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=44654):

Quote
Marvel Entertainment released their first quarter report to its shareholders this morning to coincide with the announcement about the success this past weekend of Marvel Studios' first production Iron Man, which grossed an estimated $104.2 million domestically and over $201 million worldwide. The announcement included an update of Marvel Studios' feature film slate with the already-rumored Iron Man 2 announced for a release on April 30, 2010, followed by three more movies for the summers of '10 and '11. Matthew Vaughn's Thor is set for a release on June 4, 2010, and The First Avenger: Captain America (the working title) will kick off the summer of 2011 on May 6, followed by the highly-anticipated and foreshadowed The Avengers scheduled for July 2011. (Edgar Wright's Ant-Man is also listed as being in development with no release date set.)

I heard they were working this direction almost immediately following the announcement of Iron Man...

Just glad to see it and I'm really happy for Marvel getting from under studios to do their own work. DC is still under Warner Bros.

Only Spiderman, Ghost Rider, Punisher and Blade really reside outside of the FOX Studios grouping of Marvel characters. Maybe now we'll see the long desired Black Panther (Wesley Snipes has had it on tap for a while), Luke Cage and Iron Fist was rumored for a while as well.

What Marvel would you like to see done next if you can force them to make any Marvel character into a film that has yet to appear in any film?

For me ... I'd love to see Deadpool or Alpha Flight or the Inhumans.
