Story here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24408142&GT1=43001

Short version: The body of a woman convicted of running a Washington D.C. prostitution ring was found in Florida this morning, under circumstances which indicate suicide.

Wasn't this the same person who tried to publicly extort her clients for bail money?  Or was that a different madam?  If I were a suspicious man, I'd say there's very likely more to this.  And since I am a suspicious man...

She did publish excerpts from her "little black book" that included Vitter's name. Also, one of her employees also comitted suicide.

Sounds like cleaning work, tying up loose ends.

Did she come home late one night and fall down an elevator shaft onto some bullets?

According to an updated story that I found, apparently she was hanged.

My mind isn't made up about whether I believe this was a suicide or a murder.  The prison sentence she was looking at must have been very frightening, as well as the forfeiture of basically all her assets.  People have killed themselves for a lot less.  At the same time, though, that stunt she pulled with her black book must have scared a *lot* of powerful people.  I'm trying to keep an open mind, and will be interested in watching future updates that come down the pipe.

That was a joke, playing to the "it wasn't an accident" angle, with a line straight from "Mystery Men". Get it.  Wink

According the the article in our paper, she had made comments (a while back) that she would never go back to prison. She was looking at 4-8 years.

At one time I was considering a super-heroes game. The players would have been some of the heroes that did not quite meet up with the Mystery Men's high standards. (I am... Ballerina Man!')

In a scenario her death would certainly work well as the work of a cleaner - I do not have enough info to draw a real world conclusion though. When I was a kid there were still rumors about the death of Marilyn Monroe....

The Auld Grump, a convenient death, certainly.
