I'd still like to be able to sink Japanese destroyers with the massed fire from six .50in machineguns.  Grin
That isn't quite as ludicrously improbable as it sounds.   Wink

I know.  Wink

Saw an episode of Dogfights from History channel a while back, where two Hellcat nightfighters blasted one out of the water.

What of allowing a limited number of grouped hits?  Maybe if you can stack 2 hits, so if you succeeded to hit a target 10 times with Auto Fire, you could do 5 sets of double damage.

Precision Rapid Fire
Only an elite handful are able to maintain pinpoint accuracy of a bucking gun.
Prerequisites: Str 13+, Dex 13+
Benefit: You may use a "Pinpoint Auto" trick when firing a weapon in Burst or Full Auto mode.  This trick is identical to the standard Burst or Full Auto trick except every 2 hits may be converted into a single hit that does twice the normal damage.

Examples:

An agent fires his SAW using the Pinpoint Auto trick and scores 5 hits.  He may convert those 5 hits to do 2 double damage hits and 1 single damage hit.

If you had 10 hits with a SAW rather than roll 40d4, you would roll and apply 8d4 (two hits), 5 times.  This gives you a damage range of 8 to 32 and a 20 average, so Damage Save DCs of 14 to 26 with a 20 average.  Given the tank has a +30 to saves, this SAW isn't going to damage it under normal conditions even with this feat.  However, you are now on the cusp of giving this weapon an outside chance of doing some damage.  Throw in some Sabot rounds (AP 10) and you have an outside chance of downing a light tank with the SAW.

Using the Ma Deuce against a Light Tank we'd have damage ranges from 4 to 48  with a 26 average (4d12).  The Damage Save DCs would then be between 12 and 34 with a 23 average.  With a reduced Damage Save of +20, a Full Auto burst from a Ma Deuce would have a 10% chance of damaging a Light Tank with every 2 hits.

Now, I don't know enough about real world tanks and guns to say if this is "realistic" but it seems much more reasonable than stacking a full 10 hits.

I like Bill's idea. I think it works but not sure on the real world feasability of it all. I'd like to hear more opinions of those more knowledgable.

This may be a pedantic point, but a really good SAW can definitely blind a tank by shooting out all the vision devices.  With this overkilling madness, you might not explode the tank, but you can make it's shooting less than worthless.
