The Bat Cycle. Called the "Bat Pod" in this one.

Another one.

And two more.

Director: We need a new stuntman for the bike.
Producer: What? That's the 4th this week! What on earth is happening?
Director: We didn't pay attention to The Incredibles

Once again proving that Brad Bird is a god. Not GOD, or even God, but definitely one of their lesser brethren.

It was rumored in the orginal "Batman" script by Tim Burton, he had a scene in which Batman chases the Joker into the subway, Bat gets his cape caught in the door and is dragged (and bounced) through the tunnels before he gets himself loose.

For some reason the producers didn't want the scene in the movie.

I'd hazard it was less the producers than the license holders. If I were the WB chairman, I'd be pretty skeptical about a tentpole icon pinballing through subway tunnels. This isn't The Jim Carrey Physical Comedy Hour, it's frakking Batman!

Next inevitiable question. By the time they added Robin to the last set, they'd long since dropped the ball. Is Robin posssible, or is he a mistake beholden to a time when comics where strictly for children? Does he add a needed 'human/vulnerable' side to batman, or does he automatically make him kiddy fair. If it's possible, what needs to happen to make it work, since it's never worked outside of comics before. Change the costume? Make him older? Crazy?

I ask becasue I'm not sure. It seems like watching another child having his parents murdered and his reactin does add a dimension to Batman. But the resulting green and yellow kid bouncing around telling puns does sort of take the 'dark knight' out of his element. But to deny this huge contribution to cannon may do Batman and injustice as well. What do you guys think?

Given this director's current and previous work, as well as reasonable extrapolations from the source material, I can easily see Robin being re-imagined as an emotionally unstable youth out to punish the world for his own pain.  I can also see the possibility of enjoying such a re-imagination.

I'm kinda hoping they grab the Carrie version of Robin, just for the way it'd make peoples' heads explode.

Reason why batpod and capes don't go together.

I'm gonna come down against seeing Robin appear in these 'new' Batman films.  Not beacuse I dislike Robin--I'm in the "Robin humanizes Batman" camp of pro-Robin supporters.  The issue is the Harry Potter effect.  If you get a youngish teenager to play Robin now, in the next film he's going to be a twentysomething pretending he's a youngish teenager.  To which I say, urgh.

Now, if the batman stuff hit tv again, *then* you could really explore Robin and all that, since you'd have more time while the kid's actually young.
