Just an odd thought that came to me, largely because of Fantasy Craft, would Controls prefer an SF supplement with an integral setting (Farthest Star) or something akin to Fantasy Craft, with fewer assumptions?

For that matter, can someone think of a better name than the godsawful 'Science Fiction Craft' I came up with? Even I hate that name.... Tongue *EDIT* Changed to GalaxyCraft - at least I don't hate it. Smiley

Well, SpaceCraft is a bit misleading, and StarCraft is already taken. How about VoidCraft, or SciCraft?

Starcraft.

Go on. You know you want to.

Failing that, GalaxyCraft

Hmmm, so far GalactiCraft or GalaxyCraft sounds best... so let us call it GC for now. Tongue

I like SciFiCraft, although the question is like Fantasy Craft or Cloack and Dagger?

To derail this back the original topic I personally prefer a more structured approach. I like reading settings, even if I may not use them.
What I'd like to see is a slight alteration to the current "main book & pdf support" approach. Have a main book, including the setting, but then release a 'toolkit' patch which gives some more info on adapting the rules to other settings, gives a couple of expanded rules that are good for sci-fi in general - but not appropriate to Farthest Star & so on.

I would be more interested in a toolkit.  Give me the crunch I crave to build worlds, spaceships, mechs, and aliens named Bob, from concept to completion!  One of the greatest things about the Spycraft rulebook is that it tells you how the mechanics work for nearly any situation without bogging you down with world details.

RIFTS is a prime example of what I'm talking about here.  I really dig the concept of Rifts, but the rulebook is nearly impossible for me to read through because they constantly flip back and forth between rules and background story.  I don't care that the hyperdrive was invented by blah blah blah during the time of yada yada yada.  Just tell me how fast I can go and how much its going to cost me.
