Anyone want to venture a guess on what the differences between the M40A1 (in the book) and the M40A3 (which my player wants) is? Preferably in terms of upgrades.

Wiki ref:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M40_rifle

Add UPG (bipod).

Bigger version:
- Move to Caliber IV
- Add UPG (bipod)
- Add UPG (heavy barrel)
- Add 20 ft. to range
- Add 1 upgrade

I'd toss on ergonomic stock on there too and maybe add in the effects of Clockwork action (or similar) and get rid of that extra upgrade, but Ninja's seem about right.

I found this cute little piece
Is a Russian SMG called PP-2000.  Rules wise, I'd drop it in Cal II light SMGs right next to the MP5K.

Wow. I didn't think it'd be possible that they could have made a piece of iron uglier than the grease-gun. I now stand corrected.

Russia, you're doing it wrong!

Does it matter that it seems to be mostly polymer?  My only complaint is that it uses the crummy, but ubiquitous, 9mm round.

You have to admit, the Sten series was pretty damn ugly - at least as ugly as the M3A1...at least the Grease Gun had a handle  Grin

It actually chambers a proprietary round that's essentially a hot-loaded 9mm. So it's not so bad in that sense...

That site says that it uses the 9mm Parabellum, a round that is the anti-Candide:  The worst of all worlds.

I dunno.  The unusual angles and stuff make it more interesting to look at.  More Sci-Fi and less gang war.  Probably doesn't have a lot of recoil because of that goofy front grip thing...

The weight up front will help some, but a burst will take some effort to control.

The Sten had a kind of rough and brutal elegance to it that manages to elevate it just above the grease gun.
