We’re just over a week away from the Best Four Days in Gaming and Crafty Games has lined up a ton of new stuff for you. Here’s a quick rundown of everything you can expect from us at Gen Con 2015.

What’s New: Board & Card
The big news is that we’ve been hard at work with a whole new side of the company, and at this year’s show we’ll be debuting prototypes of our first four board and card games…

Final Empire: A Mistborn board game (design by Kevin Wilson)
Become the head of a Great House of Luthadel in this game of negotiation and betrayal, set in the world of Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn novels. Contend with myriad problems plaguing the Final Empire — rampaging koloss, disease, social unrest, even the heroes of the novels — and with every step jockey for the Lord Ruler’s favor. At the end of the story will you rise to power and prestige, or fall in ruin and disgrace?

Nosh card game (design by Michal E. Cross)
Remember the first time you visited a fair or carnival as a kid? You couldn’t decide which tasty treat to enjoy first… Now you don’t have to! In this lighthearted family card game players bid Appetite on combinations of delicious snacks, aiming to taste things in just the right combinations to satisfy their sweet tooth. Fast, simple, and adorable, this one’s perfect for the kids in all of us.

Faster than You card game (design by Patrick Kapera)
Somewhere in the deepest darkest jungles of the world, pulp heroes race to escape an endless army of raging monsters. Take command of your heroes and outrun, outwit, and outright betray your friends in a desperate battle for survival. Featuring old school screw-your-neighbor game play and monster actions triggered by all the card play for an entire round, Faster than You is a quick, vicious, and fun way to leave your friends in the dust, or a ditch.

Spycraft: Need to Know card game (design by Patrick Kapera and Daniel Solis)
Yours is one of the most perilous jobs in the whole of the Great Game. You’re an intelligence analyst during a worldwide espionage crisis, responsible for tracking operatives in nine cities across the world. Correctly assess the threat and you’ll keep the Agency’s trust. Fail in your duty and you’ll be burned for your trouble. Keep the truth close, watch for lies, and use your field agents well in this cunning contest of deduction and guile.

All these games are close to going to the printer and we’re in the very end stages of playtesting, so we’re inviting all of you to come check them out at our booth and the new Crafty Lab offsite location (see Where You Can Find Us at the end of this post).

We’ve got plenty coming for our existing lines too. The Mistborn Allomancy Dice were successfully funded this spring with support from thousands of Kickstarter backers (thank you!), and we have samples of those to show off at the booth and in our Lab. We’re just arranging freight for those and expect them to start shipping to backers and pre-order customers this fall. If you’d like to pre-order a set of your own, we can make that happen in either of our locations.

The next supplement for the Mistborn Adventure Game is Skaa: Tin & Ash, which is in edits and approvals right now. That should hit stores this winter, so it’s a little early for us to be taking orders for it. Sorry!

Last but definitely not least is Spycraft Third Edition, which recently hit a major milestone as the last of the writing for the core chapters (Skills, Combat, and Awesome Dice) was completed. Because the game’s being written right now — and final design decisions are being made as we go — we can’t run any events at this year’s show, but we do have something really special planned for everyone who attends our “Spycraft: Training Camp” workshop on Saturday at 3pm. If you’re a Spycraft fan you definitely won’t want to miss this interactive event (for more information, see Workshops later in this post).

What’s on Offer
We have some specials this Gen Con! Whether you like to adventure in the Final Empire, Coinworld, or the Realm, there’s a sale just for you…

  • Pre-order a Mistborn Allomancy Dice set for $14.95 and get free shipping (plus you’ll get your dice ahead of stores anywhere in the world)
  • Pick up the entire Fantasy Craft print library — the core rulebook, the Adventure Companion, and Time of High Adventure — for just $40 (that’s the lowest price we’ve ever offered, and less than the cover price for the rulebook alone)
  • Buy 2 or more other books at the same time and we’ll take $5 off each book you buy

And as an added bonus we’ll throw in a special Aluminum Mistborn die with any purchase. That’s right — a die unavailable anywhere else and not included in the Allomancy Dice Kickstarter as a thank you for your support at Gen Con 2015.

Where You Can Find Us
As usual we’re in the Studio 2 block in the dealer hall: Booth 2016, at the end closest to the hall entrance, across from Chimera Hobby and Z-Man Games. Come visit us and check out any of our new board & card games, or take advantage of any of the great specials listed above.

We also have an offsite location this year: The Crafty Games Lab, which you can find in Tavern on South just a block over from the Colts stadium…

Tavern on South
423 W. South St.
Indianapolis, IN  46225
(317) 602-3115

The Lab’s the best place to get into full runs of our board & card games, including Kevin Wilson’s Final Empire board game set in Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn novel world — and best of all the Lab runs late every day of the show…

Crafty Lab Hours
Thursday: 11am to 7pm
Friday: 11am to 10pm
Saturday: 12pm to 10pm

We’re running two workshops for fans of our RPG lines and both of them are just a little more than they seem on the surface. We aren’t going to give anything more away about them just yet but if you’re a player or reader of either the Mistborn Adventure Game or Spycraft you’ll definitely want to sit in if you can.

Both events are highly interactive and require no previous knowledge of the games or settings (though it’ll be helpful). We’ll provide all materials — all you need to do is show up and be ready for a lively and constructive session of theory and design.
