Spellfire remains the only CCG I've played. I still keep a deck in my desk, primed and ready to go, in case my high school gaming group gets together. Hasn't happened in a few years now, but... Smiley

Admittedly, I got out of competitive Magic playing (as in, I almost joined the Pro Tour back when it started) and back into traditional gaming because of GW. It started with Bloodbowl, then Necromunda, then I realized this company made Rogue Trader, which i was fascinated with as a younger geek, and so got into 40k. Wargaming remains my primary playing experience (though I run Spycraft weekly), and I have a great time with it. But that's partially because a) I never play in shops, b) I never play in tournaments, and c) I always play with friends and a beer in my hand. THAT is the way to wargame properly Smiley

Only time I've ever really enjoyed CCG's and miniatures at all. The group and game dynamics are very different if you stick to those rules. Circumstances and distance have made this difficult, ergo...

With similar rules to this I can still quite happily go back and play Wargames and CCGs. I still sit down and play .hack and, good god wait or it... yu-gi-oh, with my immediate brothers not to mention Pokemon with my 7 year old brother. Those cards are ancient now and I'm sure some of them would quite happily fund my need for books but *sigh* there still good for a laugh.

I still play around with mordheim about once every 2 months and I'm lucky, because for some bizarre reason the mordheim players in my area aren't character twinking or annoying to play against, but I've noticed that about a fair amount of Mordheim players. I got to play 40k about the same rate with a friend who normally alternates GMing with me when i get burned out or bogged down, but the army was literally crushed one day when i was moving back home last year so that's gone now. We also drag out LotR every so often, but that's once in a blue moon. Looking back I sunk a lot of money into GW but iI never had a problem with them. Admittadly I've only ever been inside an actual Gw store three times (I like the Covent Garden store, No big red sign and its quiet and relatively peaceful in there compared to everywhere else in Covent Garden).

Oddly enough despite having a large range of Star Wars minis for Saga Edition I've never played or even browsed through the rule book for WotC mini game. Though looking at them, I could probably field a kickass dark side force from any era quite easily.

The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.

I used to play the Decipher Star Wars CCG. Then they lost the license and WotC got it, changed everything about it and screwed everybody that's been playing for ten years.

I received a phone call from my mate at the FLGS yesterday morning. He'd just heard about the cancellation, but had somehow managed to order a number of copies (along with GM Guides and Character Booklets) for the store.

So, it looks like I'll be getting a copy afterall - even if I have to pay NZ$100. Who knows, maybe I'll even get to play in a game sometime Tongue

Another phone call and another update.

It now appears that all of the products scheduled for release this year will see the light of day afterall. That includes the Inquisitor's Guide and the book on Chaos.

This isn't looking too bad afterall.

Yeah, the next three books will get done. The adventure book, the GMs guide and the 'Monster Manual'.

Steve just picked a copy up at our local Barnes and Noble at cover, and they had two, so they're out there.

Just got my copy in the mail from Troll and Toad. Spine is torn, cover gouged, and of course corners turned in. It was packed in a thin mailer with no padding or stiffeners. Can't say I'd recommend going through them, esp when B&N has it for $35 with free shipping.

I've gotten the impression that the Inquisitor book is more gear/alternative character advancement that GM guide?

I've got that impression too, I think it was originally two books a gear guide & an expanded options book that morphed into 1 book in order to get them both out there.

I just picked up Dark Heresy at the local Borders - with a 40% off coupon, and $10 in Borders Bucks. (I likely would not have picked it up otherwise.)

I also picked up Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You (which I actually expect to get more use out of....) I have both a Borders and a Waldenbooks in easy distance, and the coupon was good for both.

FFG does some amazing work, this is probably good news for fans of either company.

Does that mean we'll see another Talisman?  I thought FF's Runebound was their attempt to re-create Talisman.
