So i'm about to run a Transmechs game. I understand Spark and Possessions and all that stuff, but how does mission gear work? I ask because someone will want to play a Wheelman, and I need to figure out how Custom Ride works with this.

There's also the various performance upgrades -- consider them a transmech version of feat or skil training (or the way bumblebee spends about half the first movie as a pimped up concept model camaro before going back to his old banger form for the beginning of the 2nd film)
Plus, depending on the human/transmech ratio and the form the 'mech is adopting, there's nothing stopping the wheelman from buying a mundane vehicle for the meatbags (maybee the wheelman's a red & black GMC van, with a normal motorcycle attached to the rear door for situations when the party splits)
