We're in the middle of a season of X-Factor here in NZ. There are two new judges this year - Willy Moon and Natalia Kills. Never heard of them? Neither had most Kiwis. Turns out they were hired to be the 'mean judges'.

That was until last night, when they took things a little too far while critiquing one singer.

In a true example of the Kiwi spirit, the nation gathered together, online petitions were created and signed, got it trending on Twitter, and let it be known that this would not stand.

Less than 24 hours later, both hosts had been sacked and the producers are looking for two new judges.

Oh, and here's Joe's audition where he sings Bohemian Rhapsody. It's not the best, but he manages to get everyone on their feet.

The great Sir Terry Pratchett  is now the late Sir Terry Pratchett, and the world gets another little bit worse.   Cry  Cry

With respect, just because he's late he doesn't stop being great Smiley

Sure is, but at least his final act was pretty damn awesome.

Sam Simon, co-creator of a little TV show called The Simpsons.

I am chronically low on wood though. Sad

Build a Workshop if you haven't already. That'll let you upgrade your wood production. A couple of Lumber Mills help, too.

This one is a little different...

Those of you who frequented the old forums may remember a user named jirel. It turns out jirel / Cynthia Hart died back in late January. She'd had numerous health issues, and it looks like they finally got the better of her.

There might be a Settlers of Catan movie.

I know y'all, you're probably already reserving your tickets right now.  Wink
Somehow, I feel like you should have to roll a couple six-sides to get tickets...  Smiley

Or trade in a set value of wood... or sheep. The movie will be a massive hit if that's the case here.

After a lot of umming and arring, I backed the Conan Kickstarter. I don't expect to get it on time (I've had enough experience with previous projects) but that would be a nice bonus.

Also, the one-shot ended with Peggy joining Stark when he founds S.H.I.E.L.D. While that would be an interesting story to tell, they kinda covered that with Winter Soldier. Setting it where they have allows them to tell a whole new story (Leviathan), while allowing them to bring back characters from the movies (Howling Commandos) as special guests.

This week's episode especially so. Such a great series.

And don't forget the music. As one friend said, the composer does 80's John Williams better than John Williams did.

There's only one thing I don't like about the show, there's only one Lego set that comes with a Sabine minifig - and she doesn't have her helmet. Gah.

And yet it's practically guaranteed to make millions of dollars (possibly plural).

The Conan boardgame finished earlier today with just over $3 million pledged, making it the most funded boardgame on Kickstarter. I was on the fence about it for some time (largely due to the estimated US$90 shipping cost to NZ), but jumped on at the last minute. Why? Because it's Conan, and they've made it with the assistance of people who know, understand, and love the setting.

As for Ghostbusters, I was hesitant then I saw they were using cartoon-style sculpts and my excitement lessened. I know they're using an artist who worked on the cartoon, but it was a little too much for me. Now that I know it's a Zombiecide clone, I think I'll just wait for Thunderbirds.

"Some patrons even said that the band stopped playing while most of the bar watched out the windows."

That's only partly true. Once the band realised what was happening they started playing "Sex on Fire".

Amusingly, this sort of thing happens at my work on a surprisingly regular basis. We have a bit more sense in Auckland, though, and the amorous couples head to a room with no windows and a lockable door.

Question: is the girl with the prosthetics that they've been making a feature of a minor or major character?

Major. She's the Odd Job to Jackson's Goldfinger.
