Oddly enough, the NZ SAS (our only proper 'special' force) is a pretty secretive organisation. The public aren't allowed to know who serves, with one exception. It's possible there are female members, but we won't find out till they retire, or receive a noteworthy award (like Apiata).

NZ also elected the first openly transgender Member of Parliament. She wasn't standing in a traditionally liberal electorate, but a historically conservative one.

Don't worry, the professional trolls are keeping up the fight to keep women 'in their place'.

At least the Army are standing with the ladies:

Are you watching Blunt Talk?

You really should be.

It's great *thunk* 'cept when it decides to bug out and reset all my internet browser settings.

Which browser are you using? I'm using Firefox and haven't had any problems. I did have an update come through, but I'm not sure if that was browser-specific or a normal one.

The only issue I've had so far is with the new music player (Groove). It's not as easy to use as the old Windows Media Player, but that's really a minor gripe. Oh, and I have to pretend to be American if I want to use Cortana, but I'm not in a hurry to start talking to my laptop.

From what they were saying the footage will be the same, it will just look better.

Well that was incoherent. It's full of dark 'n gritty visuals (Hooray!) and sod-all else.

I get the feeling DC wanted to have that as panel-only footage and not a proper trailer, then caved to fan pressure and put it out anyway.

At least Marvel are sticking to their guns and holding back the Deadpool footage until they're done applying the final FX.

Nicely done.

Down this way we're having fun with Games Workshop's recently unveiled statue...

Oh, the season premiere of Rebels is everything I love about Star Wars tabletop games condensed into an hour of TV.

Sure it. It almost makes me want to try some Star Wars RPGing again. Almost.

I finished the first half of Thunderbirds Are Go's first season last night and am loving the show. Yeah, I'm a little biased as the sets are made down here, but I really do think they've captured the essence of the original show. Yes, they could include Kayo (and Thunderbird S) a little more, but I'm guessing we'll see more of her in the second half for plot-specific reasons.

Independence Day: Resurgence Global Press Event.

It's like a Comic Con panel, with less people (and fans), but they're bringing back Goldblum, Hirsh, and Pullman so I'm happy.

Prostitution?  The CDC probably declares it illegal to prevent STD spreading.  And that's probably not a terrible idea.  They mandated STD testing in the Adult Film Industry and they STILL have HIV problems.  Arguments can be made that isn't dating just a social form of prostitution, and there is an argument to be had there.. but.. for the moment.. we'll find some new way to regulate sex for money.  Maybe license it like medicine or hair dressing.

There are two options currently in place around the world. In Scandinavia they made offering sexual services legal, but purchasing the same services illegal. That effectively flips the legal onus, allowing sex workers to see legal help without fear of ending up behind bars themselves.

Here in NZ, we went in another direction: we simply made prostitution legal (though forcing someone into prostitution is still illegal). There are limits on where sex work can happen, but other than that it's pretty open. 12 years on, we haven't devolved into a hive of sin and inequity. Sex workers even have a support organisation (the NZ Prostitutes' Collective) they can turn to, if needed.

It's interesting that the 'grazing' robots appear to be storing the plant material. Are they gathering it up for a human faction that still has access to advanced technology? It certainly raises some interesting questions.

Oh, and props for apparently having a female protagonist in the trailer.
