Saw Star Trek Into Darkness last night, thankfully in IMAX, loved it. Awesome fun from start to finish.

I know there's been much speculation about the true nature of Benedict Cumberbatch's character, for those who want to know for certain...

I will get around to producing an easily downloadable form at one point, but it will always be a selection of html images and loads of javascript. Honestly you'll get a more compact version by saving from your browser as you'll only get the version of the javascript you need rather than one for every browser.

The builder has now been updated with all the class abilities from the Avatar, Inquisitor and Crusader Smiley

Hi Salvatos, I am still aroung but not playing anything crafty at the moment so I'm less active than I once was. I will be updating the builder with new stuff as it comes out, the class abilities for NPCs will go in as soon as I get home from the business trip I've been on, probably next weekend.

Since you raised it if anyone out there does know java and get they're welcome to lend a hand.

Dissarm

Is that where you insult them before you take their weapon? Wink

That's what I get for typing a response on my phone when not yet awake :p

But on the subject, steal/manipulate any small item (wallet, keys, detonator). Maybe building up to more tricky stuff, (assault rifle with strap, shoes filled with explosives).

Also, grapple benefit: apply hand-cuffs/manacles

Just got mine (UK). Slightly mushed in one corner but overall beautiful Smiley I look forward to digesting it when I get home from work.
9  Products / Fantasy Craft / Re: FC and 3.X side-by-side comparison of changes on: June 17, 2012, 06:10:58 AM
I think perhaps, because when you get down to it, it would be a shorter list that contained all the things that were the same between FC and 3.X. I would suggest assuming nothing is the same apart from the very core concepts, i.e. 6 stats, levels, classes, using a d20 for most things. Pretty much all the details are different. Tough though it is I'd say read the book, and, if you've got 3.X in your head, prepare to be surprised.

So the theme I see here, are the Game Masters want it Quick and Dirty and the players want complete freedom....

Interesting you'd say that. I find that as a player I want quick and dirty, so I don't feel like I have to spend hours choosing just the right kit to get the most out of my character. But as a GM, we do all our gear prep off-table before the game (I email out the briefing a few days before the game), and I know several of the players in my group really enjoy spending the few hours to get their gear chosen just right.

I also know some hate it and really miss the simplicity of bundles from stargate, and that's the kind of player I am.

Pretty good thanks for asking. We've only had one session so far with the second in a couple of days.

We ended up using the back to basics classes to build Watson (dedicated hero so far, with plans to multiclass) and Sherlock is a scientist/faceman. This seemed the easiest ways to build them while at the same time giving Sherlock a small and subtle edge that the character needs, and Watson all the flexibility he needs. Also using the stockpile gear system.

Also I found this rather useful currency converter to value things in old money.

And yes, this was in part inspired by the recent BBC series. In fact that was the plan until one of the players requested victorian, so that it was more about their abilities than gear, and to ensure help was never just a phone call away Smiley

Since it looks like this (awesome) tool is still being actively maintained...

1) Is there any difference between the version in the "npc-beta" directory and the one in the "npc-builder" directory?

The beta contains the treasure generator, which the release version does not as I haven't got around to rolling that feature out yet. I use the beta site to put out new features for people to try & test before they get put into the 'proper' site. The treasure generator is well tested now and will be going into the main site soon.

2) The Bright quality is only costing out at 1 XP/grade in the builder, whereas the book says it's 3XP/grade.
Thanks, I'll check that out.

3) I manually built an Elephant in the NPC builder (twice) and came out with a different XP value (79) than the pre-built one in the bestiary (74).  Is the book elephant intentionally discounted, or is there another XP-value discrepancy in the NPC builder?  My cursory examination can't find any problems with the XP values in the NPC builder, so I'm guessing the book XP value is either discounted or an error.
I can't speak for the accuracy of the book but I've found it pretty reliable, though I've not checked the elephant specifically. I added the 'explain xp' button to the NPC builder specifically so its total can be checked down to each individual quality and trait.

Minor annoyance more than a bug: Every time the name field is changed the cursor moves to the end of the line, making it very difficult to insert text.
I don't see this myself, what browser are you using?

Also, the link from the Crafty Links page is broken, I had to search up this thread in order to find a working link...
I just tried the link and it worked fine. Still could be a bizarre browser/site configuration issue.

Sadly I haven't much time to spend on the NPC builder at the moment but I'll try and look into these things if I can find a moment.

Of course if anyone else knows Java/GWT and wants to lend a hand it'd be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

I'm stepping back into the GC chair, after quite a while away, and the plan is a period Sherlock Holmes. I've two players for this, so one Holmes one Watson.

Now there's a handful of weapons in the 2.0 book which are from the right period, enough to cover the basics. But I was wondering if anyone else had ran something similar. What problems they had, any resources they found useful, if so I'd love to hear from them.

It was a pretty fun episode, though there was one thing that confused me a little...
