Products / Spycraft Third Edition / Re: I sit on the lighter end of rules spectrum , will 3.0 be for me?

How much of the 2nd edition and FC there will still be? I mean does it still have levels and classes, feats etc. that are part of the d20 system type of games.
As I mentioned, we can't speak to specific rules yet. I can verify that enough of what makes up an OGL game is replaced or different that we there's no need for the license. Interesting. Thanks for the info! I have to check out the OGL and try and guess what that and your comment combined might mean. Data analysis roll, anyone? Anyway, I sit at the lighter end for systems these days as well, so what I have read so far sounds promising.

Another game that I think has great rules system is RuneQuest II (soon to be renamed Legend) from Mongoose. The system is pretty easy, like BRP (actually very similar). But the greatest thing that it has over BRP is it's combat system. When you get high enough margin of success over your opponent, you can have various combat maneuvers to choose from. This makes combat very ... graphic and it's not reduced only to using hit points. Sure, it still has hit points (not plenty of those).
I could very well see that combat system used with firearms and in (car) chases, too.
Another new(ish) game system is Savage Worlds (I don't remember if it is already mentioned). It falls pretty well to background and it is fast. Espesially NPCs are quickly incapacitated (like mooks in Fantasy Craft).
SW also has a benny economy where players can use bennies (poker chips for example). With these PCs can use various stunts and their edges. So, pretty easy system but also quite granule like Silhouette and for that equipment (read weapons and armor) doesn't have great variation.

Since I have not run any games for a few years now, I have to resort to bit older systems or those that I have only read. Silhouette (2nd edition) is a really nice system that fades to background pretty well. The bad thing is the granulity ot the system. Interlock (like in Cyberpunk 2020) have given me a lot of fond memories as a general gaming system but I didn't like those strict "Roles". Probably best game system that I have run so far is Praedor but unfortunately it is only in Finnish. Basically it is a roll under system where difficulty dictates how many dice you roll. Easiest rolls are 1 dice and most difficult are 5 dice. You count the total of the dice and if you roll under your skill, you succeed. There are some more details but that is nice system in it's simplicity. It's true that Burning Wheel and Burning Empires use pretty cumbersome rules system and that's why I have shied away from it (although I have bought rule systems). Still, I like the way that life paths are presented in those games. Of course life paths have to reflect the kind of game setting they are designed for and that is definitely the case in Burning Empires that is based on Iron Empires graphic novels. One thing that sets the life path apart from other similar systems is that you have certain points to buy traits based on life path careers. Nothing unusual here but the catch here is that positive as well as negative traits cost points I like FATE but it is kind of hard to run action games with it, IMHO. Then again I can really envision myself running more politically motivated games using that system.

Products / Fantasy Craft / Vornheim?

I just bought the Vornheim city kit and have been reading it. It is a pretty nice product although directed to D&D products (with ACs etc.) it can be used with about any fantasy game (I have heard that someone uses it with RuneQuest).
So, have any of you used it with Fantasy Craft? Have there been any problems? Other comments?

Products / Spycraft Third Edition / Re: Will Twilight 2013 books work with 3rd ED?

It's a sad thing that Twilight:2013 is discontinued but then again so is every discontinued game line or even worse every game company.
Now, to the topic. As it has been said, only extra guns had Spycraft 2.0 stats. The core rulebook doesn't have any Spycraft stats. The basic design philosphy for Twilight War(s) in 2013 is very different from previous versions. So if you really liked old background then it might not be for you. But if you want to see a new take on the old thing then getting Twilight:2013 might be a good idea as it will get increasingly tough to do in future.

There have been a huge list already but I don't remember if 'Body of Lies' has been mentioned already. Anyway it's my vote as well as modern Bonds (Craig era) and Bourne movies.
I am not sure if this qualifies (or is this more PI stuff) but which at least gave a good tone was TV series 'Equalizer'.

Products / Fantasy Craft / Re: you guys playing with all races?

For my first FC campaign I thought initially to have humans, elves, dwarfs, saurians (or orcs) and goblins. It changed a bit when brainstorming the setting but when the idea crashlanded I didn't think about it further Now I am again thinking to get a campaign going. It will probably be mainly human only campaing. Maybe I will allow later on a more mythic race to the campaign it all depends on if there is ever a need for that or if there is, indeed other races in the setting (not sure yet about that, either). Anyway, I usually try and think what races are appropriate for the setting and to the campaign. Another deciding thing is whether players think that it is fun to have multiple races it that particular game.

Thanks for the comments!
I like the versatility and that's why I like Fantasy Craft. I have just read so much praise on Pathfinder that I wanted to know what all the fuzz was about. It seems that most of the good stuff are the adventures.
