I assume that fans of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies are going to feel right at home here?

I don't think they'd feel left out. But it will be more than just an emulation of that.

There was tons of science during the Regency. It just doesn't look like it from the modern view because, in England at least, it was based on Romanticism (which was a philosophical and scientific movement before it was an artistic one). Little industrialization though, and the modern views on what science is and looks like hadn't taken hold in England yet.

I agree but that isn't the case with the source material that I am working from. Its important to remember that this isn't a historical supplement but one filtered through the sensibilities of the literature that is influencing the setting. Neither science nor industrialism is an over-riding concern (except for when it was being commented on its evils of course).

History, for this setting will take a back seat to either of the following: 1) the concepts of the literature that is being used to model this world and 2) the drama of the stories being tackled at the gaming table. While there will be a historic overview of the time period it isn't the primary focus.

I love general worldwide settings because you can set them anywhere.

This isn't a general setting, as the name implies it does have a specific time and place. Is that time and place for everyone? Perhaps not but as a gamer and designer it is nice to explore places off the beaten path of what has gone before in RPGs.

London is a great city for it. The only other European cities I can think of would be Vienna or Paris or Berlin

This isn't going to be a setting about the city. Any city, really.

Maybe not but the guidelines of etiquette were not far removed either. The air of the setting is not vastly different, maybe a bit more romantic with less science.

A lot less science, much less emphasis on city life as well.

Besides Austen's writings, the other major influences on this setting are going to be the works of the Bronte sisters, the Romantic poets, and to a degree Gothic writers like Walpole and Lewis. Hardy might make a walk through as well.

London, I think, has been done as a setting for RPGs. I think it is time to look into the shadows cast by other places.

Then again, I was just watching Sherlock Holmes & The Master Blackmailer, with the late great Jeremy Brett as Holmes, last night!

Well, you are off by a few years, Austen wrote during the Regency so this isn't going to be a Victorian-era setting.

Jeremy Brett was a great Sherlock Holmes though.

So, so awesome.

That is my hope. If nothing else it will be fun. I'm a big fan of the old-style gonzo type of gaming and I want to build a setting that will encourage that.

This setting is still in very early development, so at this point you know as much as I do. Well, ok, maybe I know a little more but that's still not saying much.
