I always thought it was an attempt at a re-make of Kelly's Heroes, that didn't quite make it.

it was recently announced that elite dangerous will be getting a season 2 pass called horizon. it will introduce planetary landing on lifeless no atmosphere planetoids, with more to come later. it will cost about 60 usd for new and 45 usd for existing players. this will include a rover and new missions involving raiding strongholds. You can also scout and mine planets you can land on. teaser below.

How is Elite Dangerous.   I could go for a good space sim. Something along the lines of Earth and Beyond or Privateer, just not as indepth and anonying as Eve Online.
it is quite in depth. i don't know how bad eve is, but they have the physics down pretty good. the ships feel like they have momentum, the ship that i have right now is pretty cool, its the asp, and when it is slowing down you can see the reverse thrusters out of the extremely open cockpit. when you go to a station you have to request permission to land. you can perform many different roles. i started out as a smuggler doing illigal cargo runs from the bulletin board. now i mainly run rare goods from different stations.

edit: the following is a good guid for what it is all about.

edit 2: if you do want it wait till after the expansion releases then you get the full game and the expansion.

Eve Online isn't bad, per se. I just found it a large learning curve and a bit of a time sync for very little enjoyment.  I didn't get into all the politics and fleet battles, I just wanted something to fly around, make some money and have a bit of fun.    If Eve Online was the all encompassing with a large galaxy,  EnB was the opposite,  very easy to pick up, smaller galaxy, and easy to just make money and have fun.     Now, EnB is still around, but I'd like to get into something modern.     I can't wait for Eve Valkyre to drop, but I sort of need something now to fill the void till then or SW: Battlefront drops in Nov.

It might be a slower variation on the theme from On Her Majesty's Secret Service, but I may be reaching.

You're not. It's very clearly the OHMSS theme, to which I say YESSSSSS!!!!   Grin

It's not that clear. The tempo's different and having it done by an orchestra instead of a synthesiser makes it harder to recognise.

I recognized it at first, but couldn't place it.   I had to start going through the themes again, but as soon as I heard OHMSS, I knew it in an instant...

In the Adventure Companion, in the Sunchaser Chapter.  The city of Lin Moran is mentioned on pages 79, 80 and shows on the map. However, on page 81 under the The Six Lakes section, second paragraph starts off with Lin Meras, but the description seems to be of Lin Moran, guessing a typo?

Now, while the audience may be semi-biased, I thought the  reactions to the trailers at the Ultron showing I went to were interesting. This was a early evening showing, around 1830 on Friday. Mix of 'normal' looking folks, obvious geeks, and subtle geeks, only a handful of kids.

Batman vs Superman: Crickets and hushed conversation. Seriously, no one reacted to it at all and it seemed like lots of folks weren't even paying attention.
Fantastic Four: Quiet with some gasps at expected places.
Ant Man: Laughter and cheers (!) at the expected beats. And not laughing at the trailer laughs, laughing at the jokes in the trailer laughs.
Tomorrowland: Some oohs and ahhs.
Jurassic World: Lots of oohs and ahhs and gasps. Seemed like a strong reaction.

Don't know if it really means anything, but sort of interesting.

Interesting, for my viewing, 2:30PM on Saturday, the only trailer I remember is Star Wars.

Hmm.
"You have it, too."

Was he addressing an unseen person, or the audience? Was that Luke Skywalker narrating?

I'm ...unmoved. The last trilogy didn't suffer for a lack of jump-cuts and flashy footage; they weren't boring to look at.

I don't think I've seen anything yet.

Yes, it is Luke narrating, but the better question is he talking to someone he has met that is strong in the force, or a relative?

The one piece of the EU I'd like them to use is to do something during the time of Knights of the Old Republic.
