Thank you all for your help.
2  Products / Fantasy Craft / Trying to make sure I understand awarding experience on: April 17, 2013, 04:28:54 PM
I have been running pathfinder for awhile now and am trying to unlearn it all so I can start up a FC campaign.

I understand that you award standard NPC xp after the entire mob is eliminated and after a Special is eliminated, but at what point do you modify it by the threat level? Do I just add up all the xp for session an modify?

For example if I had a 40xp NPC against a party with 3 threat level are they each receiving 40 or 120? I know I am probably over thinking all this, but that is why I came here for help.

Thanks in advance

Thanks again all of you for helping to school me in the game mechanics, I really appreciate it.

I even more eagerly look forward to Spellbond now.

That makes logical sense. I really don't have more to say in response.

I guess that I am still stuck in a 3.5/3.75 mentality when it comes to when spells are available.

Thanks

Let me start by stating that I may have missed or am not remembering a similar feat in FC. There is a lot there to digest. I also have no idea what to expect in Spellcraft, but I was discussing the spellcasting with my friend and we started pondering a Specialist feat.

It would only be available at first level. I was thinking of having to select a School as your specialty and then either all the disciplines under it are considered 1 level lower for available casting or only 1 discipline.

I thought about having to select either 2 schools as your "opposites" and having an equal number of disciplines considered as 1 level higher for available casting.

I hope this makes some sense.

Be brutal with any suggestions as it is the only way to really learn.

I have looked over the wiki and read the class creation guidelines. Am I missing the location where all the letter/number categories are explained?

The skeletons are maps for how the class abilites were assigned in official material and best practices for fan-created classes. Basically if you drop the skeleton over the soldier class you'll see how A and C are bonus feats, B is the DR ability, D is the armor use, E is the selectable, F is the portable cover, and G is the gamebreaker. While the specific abilites vary, the pattern of acquisition is the same for all base classes, the same for all expert classes, and the same for all master classes. The numbers following the lettes show how often the ability re-occurs or increments. B shows up 3 times, C shows up 9 times, while D and E both occur 5 times.

That's at the basic level - you can use the skeletons to pull apart any class into piles of a, B, C, etc. abilities. Swapping and equivalencies (especially between different kinds of classes) get a lot more complicated and haven't been fully collected in the wiki yet.

Thank you very much. I thought I was just was blind and suffering from unskilled wiki use. Now that you explained it, I feel a bit sheepish that I didn't even think to try that  Roll Eyes

Sorry to jack the thread, but it looked like a good place for a question I had.

Thanks

I did some work on the LBS factions before the Adventurer's Companion was released. I'll review them and post the updated versions this weekend.

Look forward to seeing this.

Thanks

Now that is my idea of a Thanksgiving Holiday.

Hope everyone has a great holiday.

I only glanced through it but it looks amazing. I thought it was Hare Clan (not Hase Clane), but I could be mistaken.

Any plans on including material from the Burning Sands?

I don't know if I will ever convince my group to play, but this is an awesome book. As an old Planescape fan, this made me very happy.

Great job

I didn't manage to go to NeonCon, but I am glad Crafty was there. I just snagged a 2nd printing FC and print copy of Adventure Companion from someone who won them at NeonCon.

Check the wiki, under Forum Games for my Runelords game. There's a document in there on Golarion Alignments. It's not complete, but it should help.

This is a big help as it was one of the areas that I needed to work out. The whole alignments & paths system is one area that I am still wrapping my head around since coming from 3.5/Pathfinder.

Thanks to all of you for your help.

I never even thought of using the Rogue Templates to Jannify an NPC. The stat block gives me exactly the type of base I was looking for (thanks Psion). Not having dealt with FC much further than reading it all the suggestions helped me quite a bit.

My old group managed to get through parts 1 & 2 before the group fell apart. The players that I still have keep asking for a way to continue with our new group. After reading FC and deciding it was the superior system, I figured we could go that route and start with Part 3. I haven't fully read it as I am in the process of running Kingmaker, but I plan on using this once we finish the current part. I really wanted to ideas from those who play/run FC on a conversion on a more unique creature so I could see the conversion in action.

If anyone has any further suggestion I would love to hear them. I will try and post what I work up as I complete it.

I want to convert aspects of the Adverture Path series Legacy of Fire. Most of the opponents won't be to difficult, but I would like advice on one type. The series uses Jann from the start.

As I am new to the FC system I am unsure to create a Jann as a base opponent. Most of them in the adventure seem to individuals so I just need a base that I can add to with each new antagonist.

Any help here would be appreciated.
