Have I recently mentioned I love how brutally pragmatic many gamers are?

Just needed to be said.

I'm very pragmatic. Not sure if that's from years of gaming, or "I am, that I am, and that's all that I am."

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Uprising

Linking the series to Winter Soldier sounds like a very good thing to me.

Man, I want to watch that show more, but it's Hulu channel's doing a dumb "wait a week to watch free" thing.   Tongue

You're doing better than me... I have "wait until the oldest is ready to watch it with you" thing, and I'm about three or four weeks back. My oldest daughter and I don't have very many similarities in regards to books, music, television and movies. And I'm okay with that. "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is the one show we both like to watch, so our schedules have to coincide in order for us to watch it together.

I have the same thing with my youngest (our tastes are a bit more similar), however it's with "Arrow".

although considering what the tesseract is, I suppose Schmidt may still be around out there somewhere.

Well yes  Tongue My point was more that the trailer seems to be designed for the fans, as someone who doesn't already know about them doesn't get a lot of useful info out of it. The other trailers which are no doubt coming may (or may not) provide more info

It works in reverse for me... the less I know about characters in movies like this, the more I'm able to enjoy it.

Saw the Jack Ryan movie. It wasn't too bad. It was a lot like an episode of "MI5" (or "Spooks" in some regions), but with a bigger budget. Still had a British guy as the baddie (even though he played a Russian).

They did a good job updating the movie. I kept hoping that Ryan would have met Marko Ramius at a party.

And there's already cases where cable/internet providers are moving to prohibit local givernments from providing competing services and infrastructure

I live in such a town, but it's the local phone company, and they won't allow any other phone company to provide land line service.

No good can come of this... the No. 1 and No. 2 cable providers merge.

Are DC really not even trying at this point? Do they realise they're up against the big boys and are just not bringing their A game, or do they really think this will win for them? Have they even seen Daredevil?

This.

Heeey, remember that time they announced who was going to play the Joker in Dark Knight?  And everyone's like "Really?  Heath Ledger?"

Or when they cast Captain America.  "Chris Evens?!  Didn't they see his performance in Fantastic Four?!"

I'm taking a wait and see approach.  It seems that the superhero genre is fast turning into the "re-cast and try again elsewhere" medium of Hollywood.

I'm in the small camp that actually thought those were good decisions from the start. I had seen Ledger's performance in "Lords of Dogtown" where he was a bit of maniac. I'm also a fan of Evan's work in "Push" (which is a guilty pleasure of mine.) Evans was the one bright spot (pun intended) in the Fantastic Four films.

It's because they can't set up camp at Disney World, so they're going to take the show on the road.

Actually, the Disney Cruise will soon be featuring its own Marvel experience with the Avengers Academy. Sadly, this one is kids-only.

Yeah, but Disney World in Florida can't have a Marvel experience because of Marvel's contract with Universal Studios.

The biggest problems with Daredevil were not the cast's performance. Actually I felt Affleck nailed the role of Matt Murdock and Favreau did well as Foggy Nelson.

Do I think he carry off the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman? ... Yeah, I think he can. The real test as Kilmer actually stated is the costume and dealing with moving around in it. At least he won't be fighting blind. I think he would make a good Bruce Wayne too. But let's face the fact that he will be compared to both Bale and Keaton for his performance and he is certainly more likely to be a more charming playboy Wayne when needed.

I do like the Director's Cut of "Daredevil". My issue is that Ben seems like a safe choice. It's not bold, it's not daring, it's just safe. With Snyder at the helm and Goyer's script (is he writing the script?) and safe Ben the movie will fire more blanks than it needs to.

So... we're getting Affleck... as Batman... the same year The Avengers 2 comes out?

Are DC really not even trying at this point? Do they realise they're up against the big boys and are just not bringing their A game, or do they really think this will win for them? Have they even seen Daredevil?

Nooo.
