This is interesting (in a "huh, maybe there's hope for us dumb humans after all" way)

People offer to escort people who feel threatened on public transport as a result of yesterday's hostage situation

Water does boil faster when you're not looking! Well done gents!
I'm at work so my Kermit dance will have to wait. Best rpg news I've had in years. Can't wait.

Initial response.  "Wtf is a furry?"  *googles*... *ensures google safe search is on*  Ah ha!  *read article*  I wonder if that counts as a hate crime.  It should.  That's about as "cool" as throwing grenades at LARPers.  WTF is wrong with people.
I can't be the only one highly amused that The Crafty Koala(tm) didn't know what furries were Wink

(Sorry, returning you to the serious conversation now)

Yeah, I would say that definitely counts as a hate crime, on the level of picking on the nerds but escalated way beyond what is acceptable.

Ralph Baer, possibly responsible for the downfall of society today  Wink

The footage of that shooting is disturbing in a way I've never quite experienced before. That (3 seconds!!) is an insane amount of time to decide to shoot someone, let alone a kid. That's barely enough time for the kid to point his weapon at the cops, let alone do something about it.

That's quite literally insane. What's the cop's story here?

I am so, so disappointed in this choice. I suspect it was done purely to bring in more audience. So many other actors better suited for the role, and so much Cumberbatch in recent years it's just not funny.

He doesn't have the charisma to pull that role off, IMO.  Angry

Test and Regular cricket, you're allowed 2 bouncers per innings. So you're legally allowed to spend 1/3 of your deliveries going the head shot. And they've just recently announced that they will not be looking at changing that any time soon.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/11252072/Watch-the-moment-Phil-Hughes-is-struck-by-a-cricket-ball-during-the-Sheffield-Shield-match.html

Because of the type of hit he was trying to make, it sees the ball managed to clip him either just under the side of the helmet or damn close to it
2 bouncers per over, not per innings. And the rules are slightly different between test cricket and limited overs (20/20 and 50 over).

And yeah as I understand it, Hughes was attempting to hook the ball, played the shot too early and the ball hit him on the back of the head, underneath the edge of the helmet.

Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes, as a result of a freak strike to the head
As terrible as this is, and I don't want to take away from the grief the Hughes family must be feeling right now, I feel particularly bad for the bowler (Sean Abbott) who I would not be surprised if he never played cricket again, or if he does, will never bowl a bouncer again in his career. It must be an absolutely terrible feeling Sad

Besides, Viperion, your interns and post-interns should feel lucky.

The other batch had to wash Ms Püdelwumpkins.
Heh. It's funny you should use the term "post-interns" since a fair few of them ended up, uh, rooted to the ground. So to speak.

Did they get under all the folds, I wonder... you did hear where Koala's "stuff" came from in the first place, right? Although tangentially useful, I certainly wouldn't want to replicate that particular process. I still have nightmares.

Was.  Then I forgot to put away the canister of "The Stuff" last time out.  Brass got angry.  Apparently, there used to be a thriving tourist city on Easter Island.  ...used to be.
Ah that was you. I was on cleanup for that one. We went through so many interns it actually wasn't funny. Although the look on their faces was pretty amusing if you have a certain mindset.
