We also see that the spotlight TIE Interceptor pilot is an older veteran and experienced wing leader able to advise and encourage even ad hoc wingmen. The implication being as your combat hours stack up you graduate to the more expensive but more imposing Interceptor.
...TIE Bomber pilots are of course a breed apart (read "lunatics"). And not just because of the two X chromosomes Wink.
It's been way too long since I played TIE Fighter - is it the Bomber or the Interceptor that finally got shields? Or was that only on the TIE Advanced?

re-watching the first season of Babylon 5 is through (4 episodes to go - my goodness there were a TON of hints/reveals dropped in season one that took years to play out fully).
SO MUCH THIS.

Also, not that you probably care but you just went up several hundred notches in my estimation, and you were already pretty up there. (Granted, a notch isn't very big  Tongue )

That was, quite surprisingly, exactly what I needed. Thank you!  Grin

Sounds like a hell of a guy, Rus. And someone who has had a big influence on you, so at least in part lives on through you. Sorry to hear about your loss.  Cry

So this guy turned up at my house last night. Don't trust him, he's an imposter.

Yeah I've played it a bit, although we've only got the base set and one expansion figure (no new maps).

I really enjoyed it as a wargame-lite, but most of my friends were either wargamers who thought it was too simple or boardgamers who thought it was too much like a wargame. As a result it's been somewhere near 5 or 6 years since I've played it  Undecided

I'm perfectlyt content to wait, and I will certainly be buying everything SpyCraft3 that is ever printed/produced ever, I had just hoped that with the updates we'd had (including public playtests) it was a little closer to completion. Our group has been fumbling around for a decent modern-era spy game for a long time. For the record I'm a massive fan of SpyCraft (the original), but the rest of the group have moved on from such childish things (tongue firmly in cheek).

SpyCraft 2 is good, but it's not a Spy game as such without some work.

As I said, content to wait. I have money right here, waiting to give to the good folks at Crafty.

Yay for Kickstarter, shut up and take my money please!

However, I had (perhaps foolishly) hoped Spy3 was a lot closer to completion than "3-12 months before a product will feasibly be on the market" (and that after the Kickstarter winds up)  Undecided

Not this year, then. Especially not if you have a bunch of Stretch Goals to create (I'd assume they aren't existant before the Kickstarter starts, as you wouldn't know which ones will be needed.

Heh.  Funny you should mention the Matrix movies...
I stopped watching when the reviewer complained that a movie made 16 years ago had special effects that look dated now.

No, really?  Roll Eyes

I just got home from seeing Kingsman: The Secret Service.

F'ing yes.

All I'll say is "Freebird" and "Pomp & Circumstance".

15  Products / Spycraft Third Edition / Re: [DEVELOPMENT] What do you look for first/most about skill checks? on: January 29, 2015, 09:43:09 PM
I voted time, but it's REALLY close between that and type. Knowing whether checks are opposed or can be made as a team check is pretty important. Knowing how long it takes is more so though, IMO
