I do not see a problem with that. Go ahead.

Maybe, let me know what you are considering and I'll let you know if it is permissible.

Character creation.... Lets start off with attributes, you can either roll 4d6 drop the lowest or use a 40 point buy(YES 40 not 36), for now characters will start at 6th level.

Campaign qualities.  Big budget, Clandestine, Elite ops, Faction, Fast Feats, Feat Purchase, Mercenary, Paranoid.

What can be used, the 2nd edition book, Conspiracies,  "the Bag of' books, and practice makes perfect, and the various errata and conversions that are official on the forum.
Any questions just ask.

 A couple of additional rules.
  1. No killing another PC's character or potentially killing another PC's character without the approval of myself and the player involved. I will say now it would have to be a real good reason to even consider the point.
  2. PLEASE read the posts and reply to the posts, if something is not clear ask. I have had a couple of games fouled up with folks not reading and responding to the posts as  posted.
  3. INTERACT, that is part of the game, so when someone posts to you that requires a response please do so. even if just to say you are ignoring the person.

I will have a few more rules as we go along but those are the most important ones for the moment.
I will post a title for the game in awhile.

Would US Diplomatic Security Service work for the spook?

I do not think that a DipSec agent would work for a liason. One might be encountered during play but not as an assigned asset.  there is no dignata,ry to protect though after we start there may be for a time, or at least recover (bwahaha).

Sure there is still room I am looking for between 4-6 characters.  So lets set a couple of rules for now. There will be one 'agent' of what ever agency. so if there are 4 players there will be one agent/operative and 3 operators, if 6 players there can be 1 or 2 agent/operatives, and 4 or 5 operators.  I'll go through the book soon and post the campaign qualities so you can start considering characters.
As far as general tone, think the Unit, Rainbow 6, the computer games Ghost recon, the (I'll use the term) Pulp novels Mack Bolan/Stoney Man, mixed with Ludlumesque twists in the process.

And, if we go with the first with a spook liason, is the liason a character? or NPC?

If someone wanted to play the agent that would be preferable.  Either CIA, DIA, NSA, or imagine an FBI agent assigned to a covert team to smooth the way if the cops get to interested and he does not know for sure who these folks are working for but his instructions come directly from the oval office or the AG's office, when the team is just as likely to bust a cap if there is interference with the op.

And yes basically think the unit, or SFOD-D, ect.. or even a unit that basically is designed to eleminate threats like one of the specops 'taskforces' being used here or there.  It could well be a multi service unit (navy seal, SF, Ranger, Force Recon, ect) but it would be answerable to only a couple of highly placed persons.  Cool

I'm planning on a US characters centered game. The characters will be part of a highly covert organization.
The questions are what your preferences are, military spec ops with perhaps a spook liason. Or an intelligence agency with perhaps military liasons.  As a preference I'd say the first option personally. But it depends on preferences and experiance of the players.
As for the question about whether the characters would be good guys, yes but they will be doing things that in a court of law be considered very bad.  Their actions will be to paraphrase the old military oath, 'to defend the US from ALL enemies both foreign and domestic'.

Smiley  Quick response, thanks. Would you folks rather a Espionage, Special OPs, or a combination game.

Wink    I must be getting bored because I am considering starting my first game since the forum moved over from that other site. The game would be a, what I call hard edged espionage/special operations game. We couild either use the 1st or 2nd edition of Spycraft.  I do not yet have a firm story line as of yet but my games usually have a few twists to them.  The party could either be special operators or espionage agents or a combination of the two. The game would be for relitively experianced assets so would probably start around the 6th level. If there is any interest let me know. Thanks.   Cool

Huh? Huh?  I just checked the Mongoose site and it appears that they have deleted any references to either the 2nd edition and WOF?? Any ideas as to what is going on? The delays have continued to build, and now the deletion of not only the release dates but the product itself does not appear to be a good sign.

Although the Crafty Three have not said what is up, let me offer a hypothesis. See, we Crafty fans use the web to collect data, and we kept coming here and pestering the Crafty Three, and they talked to Mongoose, and the 'Goose decided the best way to avoid the headaches was to remove the Crafty products from the automated listings until they are actually released.  I have no additional evidence to back this up, but the situation at the 'Goose is obviously SNAFU. One need look no further for an explanation. No need to presume worse without evidence.

I hope that is the answer, I've been a fan of the game since it came out and while I was a bit put off when  the 2nd edition came out. I picked that up as well since I had practically all of the 1st edition. BUT, it has been so long I'm getting a bit....pessimistic.  Seeing not only the release dates generalized but the entire product list dropped raises concerns another notch.

  Thanks for the reply.
