Ugh. Second Edition psionics were a mess. They scaled poorly, used an entirely different subsystem than everything else, and just in general didn't feel like part of the game. That's my biggest concern with FC doing psionics: I think that psionic abilities should be part of a good fantasy rules set, but they need to be balanced with the other supernatural options as well as feeling like they're from the same game. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the Crafty crew does with it, though.

Ha, got it already. I picked up 50 PDFs when ENW needed new servers and was selling them a dollar each And yes it is good

It's a little nerve-wracking to be the guy who writes the "first" adventure, so it relieves me significantly that it's at least easy to read and understand. I was going to run a PfRPG campaign after we finished our 4E campaign, but I am now going to go to FC. Such a flexible system and I will DM time to create the campaign at the same time as running 4E (it has so little prep time). But we will run that as a one shot with pregens to get the hang of the system, it is a neat little adventure.

Indeed, any non-magic healer might decide to wait "till the swelling goes down" before applying a Medicine check: Wait till the subdual and vitality heal on their own first, then heal up the wounds. If you have Bandage you can heal a bit at night before bed, then do an all-wounds Mend check in the morning every day.
Yeah if you've got the time this is the only way to go....if your nasty DM doesn't give you the time (who me?) then 2d6 is better than nothing!

I agree, if you compare the FC book to PHB+DMG+MM it has twice the crunch, it is just much more succinct and compact crunch... very very little fluff. As it should be in a toolbox game; the fluff is for the tool user to define IMO. But it was funny those 2 posts, one after the other.

Ah. It's also a big bundle-o-stuff. Hm. I'll look at Ye Olde Budgette. Always remember: Smite thy cruel budgette with the Mighty Stick of ye olde Role-e Playing-e Games-e Tomes and countervail it's evil with the Empty Stomach of Insufficient Purse.

Going in a different direction to the -4 modifier if 'not trying', I would keep the same mod but roll a d12 instead! (doesn't get enough loving, that die). Or d10 if you are a nasty DM

As long as every thing doesn't revolve around new-age hippy gems and slime, I'm in. I am sure I didn't see any reference to those in the 1st Ed PHB! Mechanically the ExPsiHB was well done, but the whole 3E flavour made me sick....'feel the power of the stones, man' YUCK.

I have to admit every time I hear "vitals are out of reach" the only thing that pops into my head is evil wizards who have stashed their heart somewhere else. .... Well my 'vitals' are not in my chest!
