There are a number of human talents you could choose that would work: Methodical, Adaptable, Single-Minded and Savvy. Notice, Athletics, Acrobatics, Intimidate, Investigate, Search, Sneak and Resolve would be the skills I'd focus on (maybe he should get a penalty for Tactics if you stat him up as Adam West). Basic Skill Mastery Investigator, Athlete and Robber all work well too. Martial Arts and Master's Art seem to be a natural fit, and Hurled Basics basics with a Boomerang.

You could build him with just about any of the classes, but Sage, Burglar or Martial Artist (or some combination thereof) might be my choice.

When I first looked at the class, I was sort of baffled by Wrestling Basics as a requirement, although logically many combat experts would have some good moves. However, looking more closely, I noticed that it granted +1 defense, offered a useful stance if you were disarmed, and put the Edgemaster within close reach of Wrestling Mastery, which gives you a trick you could use in conjunction with Master's Touch. I don't know how much of that was deliberate design, but it works out well.

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but you could use Wrestling Basics and Quick Draw to make an iaijutsu wrestler. Once you are in Open Stance, you use a free handle item action to draw your sword, make an attack, then sheath the sword with another free handle item action. Now you have two hands free and are ready to grapple! Mix in Snake Strike for more fun.

How would quick draw work with the Handle Item Grapple Benefit?

Not to hijack this thread too much, but how are the saving throws for such alchemical potions based on spells (lightning vials, etc) calculated?

The first way is the RAW, but I could certainly see the second being more suitable in certain game types / play styles.  I'd personally go with the RAW in most cases.

Agreed, I always like to go with RAW first, then change rules as needed.

In our most recent game, one character gained a grade of fatigue by going down to 0 vitality. On the next round he used Triumphant Swing to gain 3 points of vitality. In round 3, he took damage that brought him back to 0 vitality again, and gained a second grade of fatigue. Is that the proper way to handle it, or should he have lost the first grade when he gained those three points of vitality?

Per the rules in the book, hirelings are paid for via renown and reputation. Our 2nd level group is low in both, but are looking to hire some hirelings, old-school style (torch bearer, pack mule-guy, etc) for an upcoming dungeon crawl. How might we handle that?

The only method I can think of would be to go outside the FC rules and do it like you would in 1e AD&D maybe, using the rogue's gallery and paying in coin. Would there be an easy way to translate the xp value of, say, a Laborer (27 xp) or Peasant (20 xp) to silver?

Any suggestions on what has worked for others would be appreciated!

Starting a new thread so as not to hijack the original...

Consider Assassin/Priest or Assassin/Courtier as you look at the effectiveness of the Assassin's core ability .. A well-made Assassin/Courtier mix should scare the beejeezus out of you.

This is quite intriguing! I'm rather new to the game, and at first glace, I can see some of the synergy here, but not all of it. How would you build this out, and how would the abilities work together to scare the beejeezus out of you?

Hello all! We got off our first Fantasy Craft game last weekend, and loved it! I do have a question about how the Sword Basics/Mastery/Supremacy works in regards to different weapons.

The main ability of each of the three feats refers to use of a 'sword'. Is this referring specifically to those weapons on page 179 under the 'Swords' category, or would these abilities apply to swords in other categories, such as a claymore or rapier?
