Title: Reminder: There's a Blog!
Post by: Crafty_Pat on July 10, 2010, 03:22:47 PM
There's been a consistent desire for more transparency in the process, and while we can't offer progress bars or day-to-day status notes just now, I wanted to point you at our blog, where we periodically post updates of interest to fans of our products (it also transmits a wide variety of items not worthy of front page real estate, like media coverage of our games, goings-on in the community, and more).

Crafty Games Blog (http://www.crafty-games.com/blog)

Subscribers to our Need to Know RSS feed (http://www.crafty-games.com/needtoknow) receive posts to this blog and the front page automatically, as does anyone following us on Facebook or Twitter.

Today's post is about the final push on the first Fantasy Craft supplement, Time of High Adventure (http://www.crafty-games.com/node/1007), which we're hoping to have available for sale at GenCon (the key word here is "hoping" - it's far from a lock yet). You can reasonably expect more on this in the next several days.

Stay Crafty!

And might I say that I hope to be among the first purchasers of your adventure companion?

Really, it seems like you're really gearing up to release a lot of stuff in the near future. I can hardly wait!

The Adventure Companion is a separate book (http://www.crafty-games.com/node/1006), and will not be available at GenCon.

Yup. That quiet time was us spinning up for what we hope to be a fairly regular run at things from now on. There will be gaps, of course - there always are - but we're hopeful they'll be fewer and shorter than before.

I've noticed the three most recent entries on the blog and I must say I really enjoy reading how's the process going on. You got a great idea there!

Quick question on Time of High Adventure.... I already own Darkest Hour and Black Spur, will the Vault also be a seperate PDF?  Or do I need the whole pack again?

Since this seems like the place - will Time of High Adventure have more then just the three adventures in it?  Any new feats / classes / races / whatnots?

Time of High Adventure is an adventure supplement so it will not include any new generic mechancial bits. I've already completed my contribution to the last chapter, which fleshes out some of the groups active in the Realm and adds a little more history and bits and bobs on Alignments and so forth, but no real new toys. The Adventure Companion and Spellbound will be the areas where you will see lots of mechanical pieces to muck with :)

The Vault will be exclusive to this print book.

Don't Panic! (tm) We're working on a "stimulus package" of sorts for those who've already purchased one or more of the adventures in the book. More closer to the actual release.

Ok, clarification....

Is this just the 3 adventures bound together, Darkest Hour, BlackSpur and the Vault, or as it sounds from your blog post there is a bit more info in it?

In addition to several upgrades to the adventures, the book also includes a small campaign setting and formal stat sheets for all the adversaries.

Well, then that sounds like it might be worth getting the whole bundle again.    Also, it was asked but I didn't see an answer, is this a print only or wil there be a PDF version as well?

There will be a PDF release of some kind (we're still working out the details). More closer to release.

Update on the Adventure Companion has been posted over on Need to Know (http://www.crafty-games.com/needtoknow). Putting that monster to bed (or at least, edits) is a huge accomplishment for me, considering I've touched every single part of that book and wrote probably 80,000 words of setting and text (out of 100k) for it on my lonesome....

Huh. You're seeing the raw XML code for the feed. Our site serves that code up through its own feed page. However, you might try Google Reader, your in-browser reader, or some other RSS reader app and see how it looks then.

Very nice. I thought the AC was supposed to include all the Call to Arms releases up to now. Though, I noticed there are only 6 Expert Classes in this book (vs 8 for the CtAs). Does this mean that some were cut to be put into Spellbound (my guess: the Infernalist and the Mist Dancer), or that the CtAs are finally not going to be printed?

I'm also very interested in discovering what the mystery Base Class is going to be ... :)

You are correct - the Expert Classes here are Call to Arms materials, minus the arcane spellcasters (held back because Spellbound is following by just a month).

I'm really curious about those Master Classes.  My first though were the racial master classes from classic fantasy, but with only 4 total MC's in the book, it'd be a little harsh to the ones left out.

Also interesting that there's 8 new Specialities, but no new Talents...

How does the cover art look?  I'm sure it's absolutely smashing, just going by the other books so far.

It just occured to me that I haven't a clue what The Time of High Adventure, the Adventure Companion, or Spellbound cost.

What is the predicted price (or, in the case of ToHA, actual price) for these items? I know you said you were uncertain of 10KB and SC3, but I would think an estimate for the former items would be easier, considering they're closer to release.

I don't want to seem impatient or anything, but there's gonna be someone asking and I know I, at least, have been sitting on pins and needles since the first few seconds of December but, any word on Spellbound?

I know you guys aren't big on release dates, and that's definitely more than understandable but just figured I'd give it a shot, I don't even have to guess that I'm not the only one incredibly, ridiculously excited about Spellbound and it's prospects. I figured this was the most appropriate thread to ask in, wouldn't figure this would deserve it's own thread unless it gets too distracted.

I'm right there with you.  Spellbound is a purchase the second it's released for me.  I just started a campaign this weekend, and one of my two players is a mage, so the extra options would be a godsend.  For me as a DM, and for him.

I'm going to be the first to post "!" in response to Spellbound now listing Spring 2011, and will idly hope it was chosen because Winter 2011 would be horrifically confusing.

Edit: Also: News says 3 new RPGs this year, after Spycraft and 10k, is Mistborn due out this year?

Edit again: Yes, Mistborn's due out this Summer, and to think what a moment of forethought would've saved me.

At least we should know soonish, isn't the State of the Company usually early in the year?  That should have some kind of answers.  Unless someone wants to officially say something now, which would be just swell.  ;)

The print book was just solicited for a release date on 1/17, so it's just around the corner (in your local store, no less!). Doesn't look like there's a preorder page on the Studio 2 website, but we can sort that out. :)
